We have many picture books in our home, both fiction and non-fiction. There are several that cross both paths as fiction and non-fiction. One of them is "Earth! My first 4.54 Billion Years" by Stacy McAnulty and illustrated by David Litchfield, published in 2017 by Henry Holt of Macmillan Publishing Group. It is the first book in the "Our Universe" series, which includes:
Our Planet! There is No Place like Earth
Mars! Earthlings Welcome
Ocean! Waves for All
Moon! Earth's Best Friend
Sun! One in a Billion
What is so great about this book? It is fun! It's another perspective about learning about the Earth from her point of view and how she sees herself. The book features Earth's other names, family, and distant relatives in the Milky Way. The story provides facts like how often it spins around the sun and who her best friend is, SPOILER – the Moon; it's a fun take on how the Earth feels and what she remembers. My favorite part is when she describes herself as a baby, she doesn't remember much, but they tell her she was a hot mess! The book features a timeline of life and the role human have played. There is also a section about Continents, Location, and Life at the end.
BONUS:
The publisher does offer reading guides and a video of the author reading the book
