Established in 1915 as one of the country’s first graduate programs in ornithology by Arthur A. Allen, the Cornell Lab of Ornithology is a research and conservation institute that offers an array of information, activities, and resources about birds to the public. Resources include information for visitors, students, K-12 teachers and students, members, and anyone who wants to learn more about birds. Visitors can plan their visit to Ithaca, New York, in a 226-acre sanctuary, with four miles of trails and over 230 species of birds or explore virtual experiences through live online events, virtual tours, and archived events.
The Lab offers specialized programs for undergraduate and graduate students who want to learn more about birds via mentors and courses. For K-12 students, teachers, and parents, the Lab offers the following:
